Have used many TrendNet cameras over the years and this model is just as good. The improved 8 MP resolution is great and the camera sets up in minutes. the camera build quality is good and feels very sturdy. I use the camera on a NAS based video security system.Great picture and very easy set up. I have had great success with this brand.The 8MB 4K definitely is a very clear picture during the day. However, during the night is where it takes a bit of tweaking to get it looking okay. The camera is mounted under a roof awning, and there is a little bit of the awning in view towards the top. During the night this causes a lot of low light balancing issues. The picture is okay, but very muddy and washed out. However, for the cost of the camera I wasn't expecting spectacular low light features. On the plus side, the PoE capability is great, and recording to my NAS works prefect.One last unfortunate thing though, that in order to use the interface of the camera properly, they still rely on a plugin that works with Internet Explorer. I would appreciate better support for Firefox or Chrome.Final thoughts The cost of the camera justifies its features, and for someone like me who doesn't want to invest thousands of dollars on a solution, it does the job well. I would recommend to someone on a budget who needs to have 24/7 monitoring of their home and yet the ability to store the video on a network storage device with a small learning curve.For the price, this is a great outdoor PoE-capable camera. I've already got a few TV-IP310 units (4MP, 1080p, bullet) and added these TV-IP1318 units to the setup for a new fenced-in area in my back yard. Both models are about the same size and take the same PoE settings. The IR blasters on the new cameras are a fair bit better than the older models I'm running. And the image processing, particularly HDR, is a lot nicer. I may wind up just replacing the older cameras in the spring when the weather warms up... They work great with BlueIris and should be fine with any recorder/viewer that can pull RTSP streams.Not that it's a problem for me (yet) but they do run a bit on the warm side. During some testing before I installed them outside, I ran them indoors (about 70F ambient). They warmed up to be uncomfortable to touch in that relatively controlled environment. I might be concerned about performance in warmer weather and being exposed to direct sunlight. I'll know more in the summer.Works OK. Image quality is good. Software is generally OK clear, but for some reason - unknown to TrendNet support - it continually switches by itself from it's max 4k resolution to regular HD cropping slightly cropping the image. Also, if there's a power failure the camera doesn't work for 3 hours after the power is restored.The device will not properly detect motion. I have it setup to record snapshots to FTP and this is not being triggered by the motion detection. I have 7 other cameras that this works perfectly on.Tech support has proven to be incompetent.I highly recommend not purchasing this product. Very disappointing.
